Kudos, or perhaps, cheers to the Alabama Legislature for passing HB9, the home brewing bill. Legalized home brewing may not be up there with education reform or prison funding, but it was overdue. More >>

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Caps and gowns, tears and hugs, high fives and pumped fists – it is that time of year - graduation. All over our state this month young men and women are walking down the aisles with diplomas in hand and big dreams in store. That dream might be college, starting a business, traveling abroad or joining the military. All worthwhile next steps as our graduates embark on another phase in their lives.
We had a "family member" walk down the proverbial aisle this week as well – Bob Howell. With cake and stories and more than a few tears we said goodbye to a dear friend. For 32 years Bob was a big part of the storied tradition of news excellence at WSFA 12 News.
The positive influence that parents of the graduating Class of 2012 provided over the years to their children is akin to what Bob provided to our team day in and day out. As he grew in knowledge and experience – so too did the entire news team – and with that Coverage, Community, Commitment was personified by all.
Know this – the tradition of excellence will carry on in life and on the news - and we have the mom's, dad's and "Bob's" of the world to thank for it. Good luck to you all.
