MONTGOMERY, AL -
Despite some early rains the World's Widest Yard Sale is attracting buyers and vendors along U.S. Highway 80 in Alabama.
The event, which continues through Saturday, stretches across the state from the Mississippi and Georgia state lines and features hundreds of bargains on or in towns near the highway.
"Since the rain, the event has picked up momentum and we fully expect large crowds these final two days," said Ron Sparks, director of the Alabama Rural Development Office, which helped organize the event. "More vendors are setting up today and we expect that to continue Saturday with the crowds not far behind. I would encourage everyone to come out for some special deals. In the process you will see some wonderful areas of Alabama with unique histories, and I guarantee you will talk to some interesting people."
