GRANT, AL (WAFF) -
Authorities said crooks stole nearly a dozen cars and trucks from a Grant residence.
The owner of the home said it happened sometime over the past two weeks. He said his property has been a target for thieves in the past but nothing compared to the most recent burglary.
John Battles said he came home on Saturday and found all but a couple of his cars and trucks gone from his property. Battles said he and a friend kept old Yugos and Volkswagon Bugs with plans to restore them.
They said a large amount of restaurant equipment was also stolen including stoves, fryers, ovens, grills and coolers.
They said they have no idea how someone could get away with all the items without being spotted.
"I mean, they came in through the front gate. Surely to goodness somebody saw them coming down through here," said Battles.
The men believed a large tractor or front end loader may have been used to remove the vehicle that could not be driven.
The only evidence that was found was an L&M cigarette box.
Battles said he spent most of the morning with investigators. Officials said anyone with information relating to the crime is asked to contact the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
