MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

An investigation in being conducted following the shooting of a 22-year-old man in Millbrook Monday evening. The victim was taken by helicopter to a Montgomery hospital.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said the victim, Bobby A. McGhee, was shot in the upper left leg or thigh around 8:20pm. The incident happened in the 4100 block of Gober Road.

Johnson said McGhee's condition is considered serious, but not life-threatening. He's now listed in stable condition.

A preliminary report shows that McGhee was possibly involved in an altercation earlier in the evening with a person or group. The shooting appears to be retaliation, according to Johnson.

The police chief says his investigators have developed several leads and are hopeful that the identity of the suspect/s will be reached soon.

"It is extremely unfortunate that so many people in today's society find it necessary to turn to firearms to settle a dispute," Chief Johnson said. "We do not need this type of violence in our community..."
