MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
Jack Mac Girdner, one of three victims in the Lowndes County triple homicide case, will be the last victim laid to rest. Earlier this week, family members of twin victims Taylor and Jordan Dejerinett held a homegoing ceremony for them.
Girdner's family has remained mostly silent following the events that lead to the discovery of the victims' bodies last week on a dirt road near the caregiver's home. Now, Mr. Girdner's brother is speaking exclusively to WSFA 12 News.
"Terrye Moore was in a relationship with my brother and the kids loved him," Kenny Girdner said. Jack Mac's youngest sibling says they were in a relationship for three years; something he didn't find out about until three months ago.
In an exclusive interview last week, Terrye Moore said Girdner was a friend of three years.
"That contradicts what my brother says," Girdner explained.
Kenny says pictures of the twins and their mother are still on the refrigerator and in picture frames in his brother's home and says it's a sign of his love for the twins and their mother.
"That's what he told me," Girdner said.
While searching for Jack's insurance information, Kenny says he found a letter from Jack that indicated Terrye was seeing him and another man, who is her current boyfriend.
"He couldn't share a woman, and that she had to choose," Girdner said.
Kenny says he communicates with Terrye frequently, and she recounts her times with Jack.
"She has phone messages that she listens to where he left her messages," Girdner revealed.
Kenny says there is still the question of why, and he says he hasn't built up the courage to ask Terrye is she knows.
"I think a lot of Terrye and her family and I feel for them. What will be, will be. It will come out, you know, whatever it is," Girdner said.
Police listed the last known address of murder suspect Deandre Lee as being directly across the street from the mother's house on Thomas Avenue in Montgomery.
"It was odd to me. I mean who wouldn't think that?" Girdner asked.
Kenny says Lee liked Moore, and he explained a conversation Terrye had with him over the phone. He said Terrye says three weeks ago Lee saw her cutting her grass. He came over and showed an interest. Jack found out. Lee then inquired about buying the 73-year-old man's Mercedes. According to Kenny, things went downhill from there.
"Deandre had my brother's number and may have lured him somewhere," Kenny Girdner said. "Innocent until proven guilty, but if that is the man. He was the last person to see my brother alive, and I would like to ask him why."
Kenny feels that is why Jack became the victim, and he doesn't believe Lee acted alone.
"I know one thing. If they did not kill Jack first, he was trying to protect those kids," Girdner said.
Kenny says the mother is the common denominator and seems to connect the dots to the suspect, twins and his brother.
WSFA 12 News has reached out to Ms. Moore for her reaction to the differing report, she declined. We'll pass along any response she may have. Before Girdner's interview, Moore promised WSFA 12 News a second interview.
This triple homicide case remains under investigation. WSFA 12 News is committed to following its developments in the days to come.
Girdner's family needs financial help to cover funeral costs. A fund has been set up for Jack Mac Girdner at Wells Fargo Bank. Donations will be accepted at any branch.
