Tarps and canopy companies team up for L.A.s annual tarp drive.
Palmdale, CA (PRWEB) June 16, 2012
The Los Angeles Mission does many things for the homeless in the area, not the least of which is a Thanksgiving meal. They provide many things beside just a meal. Different businesses and celebrities donate products to be distributed to these citizens. This year, Ace Canopy teams up with Tarps Plus and will attend tarp donation at Los Angeles Mission for 2012 Thanksgiving celebrations. Tarps are given to the homeless to provide shelter from the weather. Last year, over 4000 were distributed.
In addition, in an attempt to make life a little more bearable for these homeless citizens, the organization also plans to provide food, blankets, and jackets. These are offered at scheduled events throughout the year, especially at holiday times. However, the Mission stresses that the homeless need to be considered every day of the year, as their struggle is ongoing.
Tarps Plus Rep Steve Benson stated, “We will be giving out over 2000 tarps to the homeless at the L.A. event this year. Our goal is to give a little bit more than we we have the year prior.”
There are a number of events that have been planned in which tarps were given to the various individuals who have needed them for protection and shelter. Some of these include Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's and Father's Day, and an End of Summer Block Party. Also included in these events are food, fun, and games. Needed supplies, including tarps, are given out to help those who have no homes.
A very special event in which huge numbers of tarps were given out was the showing of the movie, "The Guitar Player", which features a homeless person. At this event, tarps were given out to homeless persons to give them a least some sort of shelter. This was also spearheaded by the LA Mission.
The impact of the civic responsibility of these two companies cannot be measured. In addition to the 2012 Thanksgiving festivities, there will be other events throughout the year. The homeless will get immeasurable support through these ongoing and welcomed efforts.
