Troy Dumais - Diving is a family affair for Dumais. He competes in the synchronized diving with his brother Justin, and the pair has captured two national championships together. Dumais’ father was a professional hockey and tennis player.
Troy used to play football, hockey, tennis, basketball and baseball in his youth before focusing all of his attention on diving. As one of the world’s elite divers, Dumais trains five hours a day, six days a week. He put his schooling on hold to make a run at this Olympic dream and will finish his degree after returning from Athens . Dumais lists his diving goals as winning gold medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games and winning as many national titles as possible.
He plans a career in physical therapy.
Laura Wilkinson - Wilkinson has been diving since age 15, but began her athletic career as a gymnast. She trains six or more hours a day, six days a week. Known as La-La, Wilkinson greatly appreciates the support she receives from her family. She married her husband, Eriek Hulseman, on September 7, 2002 .
Wilkinson gives of her free time by volunteering with children’s organizations and does speaking engagements. Her goal for the 2004 Olympic Games is to win multiple medals. Before each dive, Wilkinson recites Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” In her spare time she likes to watch movies, draw, write, read and train.
