MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
A busy stretch of Montgomery roadway is once again reopened to traffic following the closure of a natural gas pipe that was found to be leaking.
The Montgomery Fire Department shut down all traffic in both directions between Eastchase Parkway and Berry Hill Road around 10:45am Tuesday as gas company crews worked to fix the problem.
Six homes nearby were also evacuated. Those citizens were eventually allowed to return to their property.
Traffic was diverted for a short time into Eastchase, but officials said the road was reopened just before 11:30am.
Taylor Road shut down at this hour due to a natural gas leak.
