Andy Griffith had many fans some of the biggest might have been here in Montgomery. The Kut Above Barber Shop and Salon has a large collection of Andy Griffith memorabilia. It's one of the first things you notice when you walk inside the shop.
"We've been in business 40 years and everywhere she goes she comes back with something what I call junk but a treasure to her," said Larry Brown, owner of Kut Above. "She's a big Andy Griffith fan, always has been."
And of course a collection in a barber shop would not be complete, without a couple of pictures of Floyd's Barber Shop, a fixture on "The Andy Griffith Show."
"Just easy living back when things were slower," Brown said. "Everybody just enjoyed each other, went to the barber shop and just sit around."
Others felt The Andy Griffith Show reminded them of a simpler time in life. And a lot of people of that generation are passing on.
"I hate to see so much of that generation going because I do think really what I kind of call the World War II values, people have more selfish attitudes you know," said Kitty Harrell, who was a fan of the show.
And so for many people, there's a longing for a man and a show that taught some timeless lessons.
