MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Montgomery Police Department is searching for the person responsible for a homicide late Wednesday evening.
Information is very limited at this time, but Montgomery Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Regina Duckett says police and fire medics were called to a home in the 3500 block of Dee Drive around 7:00pm where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
The woman was rushed to Baptist South Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead.
Sgt. Duckett could not immediately provide any additional details surrounding the case. No motive or suspect is known at this time.
WSFA 12 News has a crew working on this story. We'll share any additional details as they become available.
This is the second death investigation of the July 4th holiday for the Montgomery Police Department.
Earlier in the day, investigators were called to a home in the 2000 block of Commodore Street off Carter Hill Road where a 12-year-old boy was fatally wounded.
That case, while still under investigation, appears to be accidental.
