PHOENIX (CBS5) -

All lanes of traffic in every direction at the site of a 24-inch water main break are expected to reopen by 6 p.m. Wednesday, the City of Phoenix said.

During the afternoon rush hour, crews plan to open two lanes northbound and at least one lane in all other directions at Seventh Avenue and McDowell Road, where repair work has been underway.

The leak occurred just south of Indian School Road, shot water a few feet in the air at its peak, and began flooding the road.

Residents can get traffic updates in Phoenix by following @PHXStreetTrans, the city Street Transportation Department's official Twitter account.
