COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Northern All-Stars beat Harris County 10-0 in four innings on Friday night to claim the District 8 Little League Major Baseball title and wrap up the two-week long tournament at Britt David Park.
A four-run fourth inning took Northern over the top. Waggener Davidson had an RBI double to make it 7-0. Brian Trepanier followed with a three-run walk-off homer to give Northern the championship.
The victory means Northern advances to the Georgia state tournament, which is being held at Murphey-Candler Park in Atlanta later this month.
A scuffle broke out after the game among adults sitting beyond the fence in right center field. It was broken up and no charges were filed.
One other championship was claimed Friday night as well, as Northern beat Peach 14-4 in five innings to take the Minor Baseball (9-10 year old) title.
