Courtesy Rickey Stokes NewsWSFA 12 News has confirmed emergency crews recovered a body from the waters of Lake Eufaula in Henry County.
Henry County Coroner, Derek Wright, says the man drowned in the Hardridge Creek area.
The drowning victim has been identified as 47 year old Michael Stowe of Ashford.
Around 6:30 p.m., crews received reports of a man who went under while trying to swim across Hardridge Creek.
Authorities believe Stowe made it across one way, but went under while trying to swim back across the creek.
Hardridge Creek is situated on the shores of Lake Eufaula on the state line of Alabama and Georgia.
Lake Eufaula, also known as Walter F. George Lake, stretches 85 miles up the Chattahoochee River.
The incident is under investigation.
