BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - Four cars, four colleges, four weddings. That's what's going through Tom Drolet's mind these days. 18 months ago his wife, Amy, gave birth to twin girls, Nellie Grace and Cynthia Lee.
On Friday she gave birth to another set of twin girls, Payton Elizabeth and Lauren Avery.
"It's exciting," said Tom Drolet, "Certainly never thought I'd have 4 girls let alone 4 children so it's exciting and looking forward to it."
During the first pregnancy the Drolets used fertility treatments. This time they weren't trying so the news came as a shock.
"My husband actually made a comment to the ultra sound tech 'make sure there's just one baby in there' and she actually got to break the news to us that there were two again," said Amy Drolet.
"Amy and I just looked at each other and laughed. All we could do was laugh," said Tom.
The Drolets have a good sense of humor about it all. While they're a little nervous about having four girls under the age of two, they know they'll have a lot of help.
"We have lots of great family, friends and neighbors and a lot of people from church that have offered to help on a regular basis. We turned down a lot of help with the big girls which we probably won't turn down with the new ones," said Amy.
Payton and Lauren won't be able to leave the hospital until late August. Until then, Amy and Tom will visit every day, hoping a parent's gentle touch will help the babies grow.
As for any future children….
"We will not be going for any more," said Amy, "My husband has a boy dog so that'll be the only boy he has."
