DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Repairs are being made to the I-65 Tennessee River Bridge Monday after the railing was damaged by an 18-wheeler last week.
The truck hit the railing on the southbound side of the bridge Thursday afternoon. Traffic was backed up for miles while crews cleaned up the scene. The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident and the driver was not injured.
Delays can be expected in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 until repairs are complete.
Alabama Department of Transportation officials will hold a briefing Wednesday to discuss the upcoming I-65 Tennessee River Bridges deck maintenance project and the impact it will have on traffic.
Officials said the current repairs will not affect the upcoming project.
