(WMC-TV) - William Brewer was the Northwest Mississippi Executive Director of the Chickasaw Council of the Boy Scouts. He was in charge of scouts in at least 5 counties, but not anymore.

He lost his job after evidence of child porn and sexual battery surfaced.

Tate County investigators searched Brewer's home after they received a tip.

Lance Brad, Tate County Sheriff, said investigators found enough evidence to arrest Brewer.

"Items we seized, of course, the one count we had on him was actually a photograph, but we seized all items that could potentially be used to download, disseminate, or make child pornography," said Lance.

He is now charged with one count of child pornography, and two counts of sexual battery.

Authorities believe more charges could surface as the investigation into Brewer's background gets underway.

Brewer's job involved raising money, organizing programs, and working with young boy scouts.

Some neighbors say they never suspected anything unusual going on at Brewer's home, even though they saw kids there on a regular basis.

Investigators say there is no indication that either of Brewer's two young victims came into contact with him through the Boy Scouts; however, they have issued a warning to all parents.

"Parents need to keep up with where their kids are at all times, ask about their friends, and what they've done," Lance said.

Brewer remains in the Tate County Jail. So far, no bond has been set.
