FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
A sign at a Florence church was targeted with racial slurs overnight Wednesday.
Racial slurs were posted on message boards at the New Pisgah AME Church in Lauderdale County.
The message board read "We hate whites. Blacs [sic] only" when a worker arrived Thursday.
Members said they are upset about what happened, but they say they also have found it in their hearts to forgive.
Members there said vandals rearranged the wording on their front billboard over night.
Despite the damage to the church's reputation, members said they believe those responsible have more hate than love in their hearts right now, but are willing to forgive them and welcome them to attend Sunday service.
Suspects have not yet been identified.
If you have any information on who's responsible, you're asked to call police immediately. You can remain anonymous.
This is the second time the church has been vandalized. In 2008, racial slurs were graffitied on the church.
