You can see the new Hornets stadium from Interstate 85.
"As you can see behind me it's starting to take real good shape now," Alabama State University President Dr. William Harris says crews are working seven days a week on the new Hornets stadium.
"The light stands are up on both sides of the stadium. If you look at the suites area you can see they are being glassed in and dried in," Dr. Harris said.
And the football field is coming along.
"You will notice as well that they are laying the playing field itself, it doesn't like when you see all that gravel there but that gravel is underneath the playing field," Dr. Harris said.
You may notice, there's only one side of expanded seating. The other side will have bleacher style seats. There is room to expand if needed in the end zone area.
"The seats themselves have fabricated and ordered and are being produced and will be put in a next few weeks," Dr. Harris said.
President Harris says construction has to start soon on extending North University Drive.
"It was supposed to start on July 1, but I haven't seen any concrete but they are removing...fixing up the right away," Dr. Harris said.
We've also learned the entrance to campus on Harris Way will re-open July 23rd. Crews were putting down new water lines that will run to the stadium and they were also making the street more pedestrian friendly.
President Harris says the new stadium is on schedule and on budget and will be ready for the turkey day classic on November 22nd. It will seat 26,500 people and those tickets are going pretty quickly.
