MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A man was hit and killed by a train this morning near the railroad tracks at the intersection of Day Street Road and Terminal Road.  The victim's body was found by railroad workers.

Fire officials on the scene initially determined that the victim was not hit by the train.

Later, WSFA spoke with Montgomery police on the scene and they confirmed that the man was hit by the train.

Sgt. Regina Duckett of the Montgomery Police Department told WSFA, "according to what we know now, there was a subject struck by the train.  He has been pronounced dead at this time.  We don't know exactly what happened or why he was on the tracks.  It does appear he was laying on the tracks and as a result, he was struck and killed."

Police do not believe that foul play was involved.

WSFA will bring you updates as new details become available.
