PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -
A Phenix City official has been recognized for his work ethic and outstanding performance.
Wallace B. Hunter, city manager of Phenix City, received a standing ovation for a job well done at Tuesday morning's council meeting.
Hunter received the Sam Gaston Vocational Excellence Award by the Alabama City/County Management Association while attending a conference at Orange Beach.
Hunter says he's honored, but it's all a team effort.
"I'm honored and I feel like it's from the performance of the people who've been working in Phenix City," Hunter said. "Without those people, none of this could be accomplished. Most of the goals they set they make sure that they can reach them with high priority. They do a real good job. They take pride in everything that they do."
A luncheon was planned to recognize Hunter, but he chose to share the luncheon with 500 other Phenix City employees.
