BOSSIER CITY, LA (WAFB) -

Reality show star "Billy the Exterminator" and his wife pleaded not guilty to drug charges in a north Louisiana courtroom Wednesday morning.

"Billy the Exterminator," whose real name is William Bretherton, and his wife, Mary, are charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They are scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 19.

The Bossier City Police Department responded to a 911 hang up call from a room at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at the Louisiana Boardwalk on April 28, 2012.

Investigators said the couple was found in the hotel room with a substance they believed to be synthetic marijuana and a device commonly used to smoke narcotics.

Detectives took the suspected synthetic marijuana for testing at the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab in Shreveport.

The police department was later notified the substance came back positive as synthetic marijuana.

Billy the Exterminator and his wife turned themselves in to authorities after arrest warrants were issued.

They bonded out on $6,000 each.
