PRICEVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
A son was arrested after officers found meth labs in the home of his cancer ridden mother.
Deputies said they responded to community tips of drug activity at a home in Priceville. Officials said when they arrived, one of the offenders tried to flush and burn the drugs.
Deputies worked to contain two active meth labs.
The owner of the home was sick with pancreatic cancer and didn't know the drug activity was taking place.
"She goes daily for her chemotherapy treatment while, unbeknownst to her, she has been having methamphetamine carcinogen chemicals around her everyday as she is terminally ill with cancer," said Sheriff Ann Franklin.
Her son, Blaine Childers and two friends Melissa Chaney and Brandon French were arrested and charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance.
French was also charged with tampering with evidence.
Deputies said they also found a dog in the home. Officials said the dog's hair was falling out as a result of the chemical exposure.
