Leslie's Shepard's Pie

Shepard's Pie a London Delight

This dish was developed in the United Kingdom back in 1800s and was a way for those living on a lower income to use left over beef and cheap potatoes to make a meal.

One should note that it was often called "cottage pie" because of the modest homes or cottages of the rural workers. Only shepards pie has beef!! Cottage pie is mainly mutton!

To make this dish:

One half pound of hamburger meat

One diced green pepper

One small onion diced

One cup of shredded cheddar

Mashed potatoes

Brown the meat with pepper and onion. Salt and pepper to taste. Make your mashed potatoes and line a pie pan with them. All the way up the sides of the pan put meat mixture on top of potatoes and frost with other potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bake in oven til cheese melts.

So, for as much as we have heard that gelato is the Italian equivalent of ice cream, this "gelato" is really a frozen mousse of a dessert. Quick and easy, with no ice cream maker needed, this dessert may be served as a chilled mousse or frozen completely as a "gelato."

Celebrate warm weather with nature's sweet berries. Simply served with a light dusting of powdered sugar, this dessert is not a sugar overload, because it relies on the natural sweetness of in-season berries.

Here is smoky and slightly spicy twist on fried catfish. Instead of coating the catfish in a thick beer batter, I marinate the raw pieces in beer before seasoning them and lightly dredging them in flour
