Former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy is now a free man. His prison sentence for his conviction on corruption charges ended today, a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed.

Scrushy was moved from a federal prison in Beaumont, TX into a halfway house in April in preparation for his release. On May 10, he was placed on home confinement. Now, he's under the watchful eye of federal probation officers. He still faces three years of supervision and must perform 500 hours of community service.

Scrushy and former Ala. governor Don Siegelman were convicted in 2006 of bribery. Prosecutors alleged that Scrushy bought a seat on a hospital regulatory board by arranging $500,000 in donations to Siegelman's campaign to establish a state lottery.

While Scrushy is on probation, he is not allowed to own a firearm and must have permission from a court or probation officer to leave the judicial district.
