HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Whitesburg Pool in Huntsville celebrated its 50th
anniversary Saturday.
The pool first opened in 1962.
Members of the pool team gathered for a reunion Saturday.
The pool's president, Sam Sullins, said he hopes pools like this will inspire a
future generation of swimmers who have their eyes on the Olympics.
"There will be more kids that will want to
swim year-round to improve their skills either to get a scholarship and then
maybe move on to the next Olympic Games and who knows, there may be someone in
town that will do that," said Sullins.
The pool opened in 1962.
