Auburn set to open preseason camp

Posted: Updated:

The Auburn Tigers are upbeat going into preseason camp. The Tigers practice for the first time on Wednesday afternoon after a summer of voluntary workouts.

Cornerback T'Sharvan Bell says the Tigers' summer workouts "were the best we've had since I've been here."

Defensive tackle Jeffrey Whitaker says "the team chemistry is way up there."

Auburn will have lots of competition in the offensive backfield. Quarterbacks Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley are vying for the starting job and tailbacks Tre Mason and Onterio McCalebb are competing for carries too.

The Tigers have nine starters returning on defense and seven on offense. Linebacker Daren Bates says tailback Jovon Reed and quarterback Jonathan Wallace have stood out among the freshmen.
