PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -
Returning champion Lexi Thompson is coming back to Alabama on Aug. 12 and 13. She will be in Birmingham the evening of Sunday, Aug. 12 and will be meeting with area golfers at Ross Bridge.
On Monday, Aug. 13 Thompson will be traveling to Prattville and Montgomery where she'll make an appearance at Capitol Hill.
As the youngest winner of an LPGA event, Thompson made history in Prattville and is excited for a return visit in August and for the tournament in September. This will be her fourth time to play in the Navistar LPGA Classic.
Olympian Lexi Thompson?
Golf will become an Olympic sport in 2016 when the games go to Brazil. Lexi Thompson will be 21-years-old at that time and would be a prime candidate for the US Olympic Team. Thompson can certainly address that during her visit to Alabama. This year, she has enjoyed watching Olympic gymnastics when not competing or practicing.
Four For Fore
The top four players in the world, according to the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, will be in Prattville for the 2012 Navistar LPGA Classic. World #1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan is set to return, along with #2 Stacy Lewis of the United States, #3 Na Yeon Choi of South Korea and #4 Shanshan Feng of China.
Other Top 10 players include #6 Suzann Pettersen of Norway; #7 Amy Yang of South Korea and #8 Cristie Kerr of the United States. Lewis won the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic in Mobile in April of this year.
