DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
One man was taken into custody Sunday night after he held a woman for hostage in Northwest Decatur.
Decatur Police said Larondrick Macklin held a woman inside a home off 8th Avenue after witnesses reported she ran out of the house while he was chasing her. When police arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact with Macklin but failed to do so.
According to the police report, Macklin began calling family members from his cell phone. A family member on-scene later gave her phone to an officer where he later spoke with Macklin; police said the officer knew Macklin.
A TEC-9 9mm handgun was taken from the home, but no one involved in the incident was injured. Macklin has since been charged with 3rd degree domestic violence and was booked in the Decatur City Jail.
Police said Macklin had at least three arrest warrants out for his arrest for failing to appear in court.
Decatur Police said the woman involved in the hostage situation is not cooperating with authorities and has since denied the situation actually happened.
