SHERMAN, TX (WBTV) -

County singer Randy Travis is facing serious charged after he is accused of threatening to kill a trooper while he was being arrested after being found drunk and lying in the road.

According to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, deputies got a call around 11:18 p.m. Tuesday night to the report of a man lying in the roadway near Tioga, Texas.

The man, later identified as Randy Travis, was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers.

According to the report, Travis was involved in a crash on Tuesday night in Tioga, which is near the singer's Texas home.

Travis had "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication" deputies noted in their report.

He reportedly refused a blood and breath test and a search warrant was later granted by a judge for a blood specimen, which was taken at a local hospital.

While he was being transported, according to the report, Travis "made threats to shoot and kill the Troopers working the case."

A Travis representative did not immediately reply to a message Wednesday from The Associated Press.

In February, Travis was charged with public intoxication after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, about 20 miles from Tioga.
