Deputy Chad Shockley, 26, was driving home from his shift in Centreville when he wrecked into J and D Tanning Salon around 7 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. His car veered off of Highway 11 and he drove through several yards before crashing into the tanning salon.
Shockley lives in the Vance area and the wreck happened not far from his home.
He was airlifted to UAB Hospital for treatment after the crash and released late Sunday. His toxicology report came back negative, Bibb County Sheriff Keith Hannah said.
The investigation was handed over to Alabama State Troopers. Their accident report stated it appeared that Shockley fell asleep while driving.
