NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
Investigators are on the lookout for the people responsible for breaking into a North Charleston dealership and taking off with five Chevy Camaros.
On Monday at 7:30 a.m., the North Charleston Police Department responded to Crews Chevrolet on 8199 Rivers Ave. in reference to a burglary.
An employee told police that someone had broke into the dealership, pried open the key drawer and took off with a red 2013 Chevy Camaro ZL1 which was parked in a showroom.
Investigators say during an inventory of the vehicles, it was discovered that there were also four more 2012 Chevy Camaros stolen from the car lot. Officers say the cars were stolen from the west side of the lot and were parked in a row with several other Camaros.
A sales associate told police that he saw the ZL1 in the showroom on Sunday. Police say there were no alarm systems or video surveillance in place at the time of the theft.
On Monday, the Lexington County Medical Center Public Safety Department contacted police after locating the ZL1 parked at the center. The vehicle was found with no one inside and no damage to the vehicle.
