Romaine lettuce recalled due to possible E. coli contamination

According to the FDA, Tanimura & Antle Inc. is voluntarily recalling a single lot of romaine lettuce because it may be contaminated with E. Coli O157:H7 bacteria.  There have been no illnesses reported from the consumption of the lettuce.

The affected product is the Tanimura & Antle Field Fresh Wrapped Single Head Romaine.  The lettuce is packaged in a plastic bag with the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9.  It was available at retail locations from August 2 - 19 and may have had a Best By date if 08 19 12.  This is the only Tanimura & Antle product being recalled.

Nearly 2000 cases of the contaminated lettuce were shipped to states across the nation, including Alabama.
