TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

The country's largest highway solar panel project was unveiled today and it's located just south of Wilsonville.

The Baldock Solar Station is a collaborative effort between Portland General Electric and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Nearly 7,000 solar panels across 7 acres of land will produce enough green energy in a year to power at least 165 homes.

The solar station went online in January but the Baldock Safety Rest Area is now open to the public.

"Everyone has the opportunity to visit a beautiful solar facility," said Mark Osborn from PGE.

Visitors to the station can learn about solar power and Oregon's solar highway installations through a variety of interpretive displays.

The station is the second joint highway solar project between PGE and ODOT.
