TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A bakery in Northport is getting back to baking University of Alabama-themed treats.

That includes cookies with Alabama's well-known script "A" logo. Mary Cesar owns Mary's Cakes and Pastries. Last week, the Collegiate Licensing Company of Atlanta sent Mary a cease and desist letter for selling desserts with University trademarks without prior approval.

Since then, the school has apologized for what they call a misunderstanding. And a school representative told her it's ok to continue baking the cookies while they work out a deal that's best for both sides.

"If I had any idea who turned us in to the CLC in the beginning I'd take them out and hug them. We're in a much better position and a stronger position now in terms of being legal than we ever were or could have been without this happening," Cesar said.

Mary says business has increased since the disagreement make headlines. She's even hired another employee as orders from customers outside of Northport and Tuscaloosa have come in.
