HOMER, LA (KSLA) -

A Homer woman was killed Monday after authorities say she failed to stop at a stop sign and her SUV struck a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Hwy. 79 and La. 9.

A preliminary investigation by the Louisiana State Patrol reveals that a GMC Terrain driven by Gloria Bennett, 67, was traveling north shortly before 6 p.m. on La. 9 when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Hwy. 79.

Troopers say Bennett then struck a northbound tractor-trailer driven by Paul Summers, 52, of El Dorado, Ark. Summers was not injured.

Bennett was flown to an area hospital where she later died.

Authorities have collected toxicology samples and will continue their investigation.
