Rugs recalled due to laceration hazard

Posted: Updated:

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Cost Plus Inc., has announced the voluntary recall of Recycled Silk Floor Mats.  The rugs were sold exclusively at Cost Plus World Market stores nation wide from June 2011 through May 2012 at a cost of about $17.

The recalled rugs might have a tack or staple woven into the strips of fabric.  The tack or staple could cut consumers, posing a laceration hazard.  Cost Plus is aware of one incident in which a tack was discovered by a consumer.  No injuries have been reported.

The recalled rugs measure 2 ft by 3 ft and were sold in a variety of color combinations.  World Market and SKU 441536 are printed on the mat's white care label sewn into the bottom of the mat.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rugs and may return them to Cost Plus World Market for a full refund.  For further information,  contact Cost Plus toll-free at (877) 967-5362 between 7 a.m. through 12 p.m. PT any day, or visit the firm's website at www.worldmarket.com and click on Product Recalls under Customer Service.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is interested in receiving incident or injury reports that are either directly related to this product recall or involve a different hazard with the same product.  Contact the CPSC at saferproducts.gov to tell them of your experience with the product.
