MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Tornado victims from 2011 who didn't receive any type of aid could be eligible for grants to rebuild or fix their damaged homes.

The program was set up by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

"Basically, in a nutshell it makes available $25,000 to each eligible household" said Jim Byard, the Director of ADECA.

The federal government made available between $6 million and $8 million for those victims who haven't taken advantage of other forms of aid like FEMA or Small Business Administration loans.

Byard said, "It's intended to help families who are at the end of their rope, who have not been able to receive any other assistance."

Three groups in Alabama will administer the process of distributing the loans.

Autauga, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Choctaw, Clarke, DeKalb, Elmore, Etowah, Hale Jackson, Jefferson, Madison, Marengo, Marshall, Perry, St. Clair, Shelby and Talladega residents should contact the Alabama Rural Coalition for the Homeless to see if they're eligible. ARCH could be reached at 888-421-1266.

In Greene, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa Counties, residents should call 205-752-7254 to get in touch with Community Service Programs of West Alabama Inc.

In Cullman, Lawrence, Colbert, Franklin, Marion, and Walker Counties residents should contact the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama Inc. at 855-469-3267.
