PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -
The body of a man found dead over the weekend has been identified as Jerry Johnson, a 59 year-old man who lived between Phenix City and Columbus.
Johnson was found partially decomposed under the Holland Creek Bridge on Broad Street in Phenix City Saturday morning.
Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. said, "The body appears to have been down there for a couple of days".
A pair of men's dress shoes and what looked like a book were laying close to where the body was located.
The man was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m. A couple of guys looking for scrap metal discovered the remains.
Authorities say the body had no visible wounds. The body was sent to Montgomery on Sunday for an autopsy.
Police are still investigating the cause of death.
