MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
They're bringing brewing back to the capital city.
"This was the Montgomery Brewing Company for 15 years and we are bringing brewing back to the city of Montgomery," Co-owner Bob Parker said.
The Railyard Brewing Company will open its doors in less than two weeks on the corner of South Court Street and West Jeff Davis Avenue.
This is the third restaurant venture for Bob Parker and his partners who also own Dreamland Barbecue and the Deli at the Alley Station.
"We've got 24 beer taps at Dreamland, but we don't make our beer. We are going to make the beer here guys, it's a craft environment you're going to be in. It's going to be unique to the city," Parker said.
Now, just four months after starting the renovations, Parker and his partners are ready to start a new chapter of brewing in downtown Montgomery.
"We still have to put in the tables and chairs, we're finalizing the kitchen, ready to get that inspection and putting the lights in and just kind of putting the final touches on everything," Parker said.
A recent law is now making it possible for Railyard Brewing Company to sell their beer to other businesses and not be limited in how much beer they can make on site.
"We can now spread the joy and you can get Railyard Brewing Company at the Railyard Brewery, but also at Dreamland Barbecue and places like that," Parker said.
Parker says a brewer from Birmingham will also brew beer at the new restaurant.
He says Back 40 Brewing Company in Gaston will be responsible for mass production of beer for distribution.
"Maybe building our own off site brewery,we will brew and distribute," Parker said.
Parker says this time next year, the basement will be renovated and turned it into a private event area. He also alluded to the announcement of another restaurant venture next year. Parker says besides the beer, you can expect a full menu, in particular a fantastic burger.
The Railyard Brewing company is scheduled to open its doors next Wednesday, September 19th.
