RABBIT VALLEY, CO (KJCT/CNN) - Scientists unearthed a 6-foot long dinosaur shoulder bone out of a quarry in Rabbit Valley, CO, on Tuesday.
The bone comes from a long-necked, plant eating dinosaur called the Apatosaurus.
Dinosaur Journey Museum Manager ReBecca Hunt-Foster said the scapula was just a preview of a much larger discovery.
"When the bone pit came out, we noticed there was a little bit of bone that had fallen out of the jacket. But luckily what was happening is we found this other bone underneath the bone that we were intending to pull out, and we did not know this was here. So we just have another new find."
Paleontologists say the shoulder bone they extracted is the longest limb bone they've found in the area in the last two or three years.
