Salary yet to be determine for Ala.'s new chancellor

The State Board of Education will meet next week to discuss what salary to offer Alabama's new 2-year college chancellor, Mark Heinrich.

A committee headed by Gov. Robert Bentley will meet Wednesday to discuss ideas, and the full board will convene Thursday to vote. Bentley says the salary is likely to be closer to the $198,000 paid to Alabama's K-12 superintendent, Tommy Bice, than the $289,900 that previous chancellor Freida Hill received.

The school board voted unanimously to hire Heinrich. He has been president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa since 2008.
