DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - The search for a missing Dothan teen may lead officials south of the boarder.
Sergeant Rachel Davis of the Dothan police confirms the FBI believes 15-year-old Ailene Lander, who police say was kidnapped by her step-father, are trying to go to Mexico.
Authorities say Lander was kidnapped by her step-father Monday from DHR custody at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.
The DHR worker had taken Lander to a doctor's appointment at the medical center when the worker and Lander were approached by the girl's step-father, 36-year-old Charles Partin.
Partin took the girl to an older two-tone light blue over dark blue 1994 Mercury Villager van Alabama tag #34B26K3 or #38D18W2 and left the parking lot. Partin and Lander haven't been seen since leaving the medical center.
Sources that claim to know the teen say Lander is pregnant, however authorities will not go on record with that information. Lander is currently legally under the care of DHR for unspecified reasons due to an ongoing investigation. She is described as a white female, 15 years of age last seen wearing a white see-through shirt and pink gym shorts.
Partin is described as a white male, 36 years of age last seen wearing a baseball cap, dark colored shirt and dark jeans.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has set up a command post in Dothan and is assisting in this case.
Authorities also have reason to believe Partin and Lander may be traveling with the victim's mother and five siblings.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Lander, Partin, the family or the vehicle in question is asked to call 1-800-225-5324 (1-800-CALLFBI) then choose option one.
