MOBILE, AL (WSFA) -
Mobile police are concluding an investigation into what was thought to be a shot fired into the headquarters of the Mobile Co. Democratic Party.
Authorities said the glass at the front of the building was broken from previous damage and was not caused by any gunfire.
No evidence of a bullet was found.
Mobile County Democratic Party Chairman, Representative Napoleon Bracy, initially reported that someone fired a shot into the Government Street building around 11:45am Wednesday.
None of the volunteers or party officials inside were injured.
Investigators found existing holes in the glass front area of the building that were covered by what appeared to be repair material. The holes were determined to have existed prior to the glass panel shattering.
Democratic Party officials, initially shaken by the incident, said they hoped the situation was not politically motivated. While an investigation was under way, party leaders around the state were urged to stay alert.
