A trial is scheduled to start Tuesday for an Alabama man charged with sexually assaulting an unconscious LSU fan after the BCS national title game earlier this year.

Brian H. Downing, of Smiths Station, Ala., pleaded not guilty in May to charges of sexual battery and obscenity.

A video that went viral on the Internet appeared to show someone in a University of Alabama jacket performing a simulated sex act on an unconscious man at a Bourbon Street restaurant after the Crimson Tide beat LSU for the BCS football championship on Jan. 9.

Orleans Parish Criminal District Judge Karen Herman will preside over the jury trial.

Downing was freed on bond after he surrendered to police in January. His alleged victim sued him in May.
