AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -
This year, more than 300 families in Auburn will either struggle or not have enough money to provide their children with a gift to open on Christmas day.
Auburn Public Safety is determined to help those families through its annual Toys for Tots drive.
Families can register children ages three through eight for gifts Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Auburn Police Department from 10 to 11 a.m. The deadline is November 14.
Toys for Tots is driven by your generosity. Police are asking you to drop off new, unwrapped toys at an Auburn Police Department, fire station or Uncle Bob's Self Storage.
"During this tough economic time, it is rough for families to make ends meet," said Captain Tom Stofer. "This is just a wonderful way to ensure a child in our community receives a precious gift during this special time of year."
In order to register a child you will need to have a photo ID, the child's social security number, birth certificate and two current bill statements.
Volunteers can call the police department if they would like to help organize and distribute the gifts near the holidays.
