PHOENIX (AP) -
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has ordered all DHS flags to fly at half-staff in honor of a Border Patrol agent who was fatally shot in Arizona.
Nicholas Ivie and a colleague were on patrol in the desert near Naco -- about 100 miles from Tucson -- when shooting broke out shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. The 30-year-old Ivie was killed and the other agent is recovering at a hospital.
Napolitano says federal authorities will track down those responsible for the shootings and "bring them to justice."
U.S. Sen. John McCain says the shootings "are a tragic reminder of the threats that Border Patrol agents face every day in the line of duty."
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says she's angry at the "political stalemate that has left our border unsecured."
