PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Customs and Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered along the border in December 2010.
His death allegedly came at the hands of Mexicans armed with guns connected to the Justice Department's Fast and Furious program.
"We know that threat remains and will remain for the near future," says Terry's cousin, Robert Heyer. "You know, those weapons are out there. They're in the hands of criminals."
Only two weeks ago, Heyer and the rest of Terry's family were at the Border Patrol station in Bisbee as the station was dedicated in Terry's name.
Agent Nick Ivie was based out of the same Border Patrol station.
"We remember all to well the shock and pain of what they're going through right now," says Heyer.
Heyer says this latest murder highlights the continuing dangers faced by border patrol agents.
Terry and Ivie were only 30 years old.
"When I spoke with Brian's mother this morning," said Heyer, "she was saddened because she sees all of those agents as Brian's brothers and sisters, and hence, children of hers."
