PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -

Peoria police are searching for a gunman who held up a Fry's store on Monday.

The robbery happened just before 3 p.m. at the Customer Service Counter of a Fry's store at 7455 W. Cactus Rd.

The man approached the counter carrying a Fry's shopping bag, police said.

He pretended to be a customer, but when the clerk opened the cash drawer the man pulled a handgun from the bag and pointed it at the clerk, officers said.

The man then demanded money and left the store with an undetermined amount of cash by getting into the passenger seat of a getaway car.

The car is described as a Gray 1999 to 2001, four-door Toyota Camry with dark-tinted windows and a spoiler on the trunk.

The suspect is described as between 5'9" to 6' tall and weighs between 230 to 250 pounds. He has blond hair and no visible tattoos or piercings. He was seen wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses, a light blue collared shirt, blue jeans and flip flops.

People with any information about the crime or the suspect's whereabouts are asked to call the Peoria Police Department's Tip Phone Line at 623-773-7045 or by contacting Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
