TRUSSVILLE, AL (WBRC) -

Today the Special Olympics hosted athletes from 27 schools at Jack Wood Stadium in Trussville.

Students participated in the track and field based events. Organizers say it was the perfect day for awareness, fellowship, and a time for the kids to shine.

Today marked the seventh annual Special Olympics tournament.
