LEEDS, AL (WBRC) -
A veterinarian is looking to save 33 dogs confiscated from a Leeds home. Earlier this week, a St. Clair County judge ordered the dogs be put to sleep.
Dr Rachel Nelson, a veterinarian in Moody, tells Fox 6
her motion to intervene on behalf if the dogs was denied after the judge told her the only parties
that can intervene are the DA's office, animal control, or the owner of the
dogs.
Nelson filed in court
early Thursday morning trying to stop the euthanization of 33 dogs who were
supposed to be put down. She says she has seen the dogs and
some of them are adoptable. She plans to meet with her attorney now to find out if there are any other
options.
Birmingham Jefferson County Animal Control will hold off on euthanizing the dogs to give the vet more time to try and save them.
The animals were taken from their home after the owners' two rottweilers attacked and killed an elderly neighbor.
